Dorset Police Welcome 24 Fresh Recruits as Training Kicks Off!
New Recruits Ready to Hit the Streets
Dorset Police today rolled out the welcome mat for 24 eager new trainee officers aged 18 to 45. These rookies come from all corners of life, armed with big hopes and sharp pens – though they might find those pens don’t last long on the frontline.
Hard-Hitting Training for Real-Life Policing
Over the next two years, the trainees will be forged into response officers, neighbourhood beat cops, and detectives. They’ll learn every twist of the law, master police powers, and toughen up to handle everything from high-stress arrests to coping with reheated tea in the station.
New Routes, Same Tough Job
This batch marks Dorset’s first intake featuring non-degree entry routes alongside apprenticeships and degree schemes. No matter the path, the destination is the same: long shifts, tough decisions, heavy responsibilities, and unmissable moments on the beat.
From Classroom Optimism to Frontline Reality
Day one is full of introductions and bright-eyed enthusiasm. But soon these recruits will face arrests, sudden deaths, and situations that show the real weight of policing.
It’s a demanding role that changes you forever — but also gives back in ways no other job can.
