Three Brothers Jailed After Brutal Attack on Grandad and Vandalism Spree
Sledgehammer Rampage Sparks Police Chase
Three brothers from Trowbridge turned violent in a shocking family feud by attacking their own grandfather and wrecking his home. Armed with a sledgehammer, Andrew Smith, 30, Michael Smith, 28, and Joseph Smith, 26, drove to their grandfather’s house in Drayton with the intention to smash up his property and cars.
The 70-something victim was seriously hurt while trying to protect his home during the savage attack.
Police Stop Escape After Car Crash
The trio fled back to Trowbridge but were quickly stopped by Wiltshire Police, who had flagged their vehicle. Michael and Andrew made a desperate run after crashing into a wall but were swiftly caught. Joseph managed to dodge capture for a few days before being picked up on 14 July.
Joint Police Forces Crack the Case
The arrests came thanks to tight teamwork between Thames Valley and Wiltshire police, who coordinated to hunt down the violent siblings.

- Andrew Smith got 14 months behind bars.
