Chilling Find at Wolverhampton School Playing Fields
An 11-year-old girl at Smestow Academy in Wolverhampton stumbled upon a grisly scene just as her PE lesson was about to kick off. The pupil spotted a man’s body lying near the goalposts in thick morning fog at around 10am. Shockingly, no other students had entered the field before the grim discovery.
Shaken Pupils Sent Home as Police Seal Off Scene
The young girl’s dad, Terry Willington, revealed the terror: “My daughter phoned her mum screaming. She found a dead body on the field. She’s only 11, and it’s left her really shaken.” After the grim find at 10.40am, Smestow Academy shut its doors, sending all pupils home. Police quickly cordoned off the area, taping off one of the goalposts as they launched a full investigation.
Local Shock and Police Probe Underway
Witnesses described a frantic response from school staff. One nearby mother said, “It was clear the man wasn’t alive. It’s a scenic spot, but not where you’d expect something like this.” The academy stressed the incident was not linked to the school but serious enough to close for the rest of the day. They confirmed, “The police have now given us the go-ahead to open as usual tomorrow.” Officers are working to identify the man and uncover what happened. Meanwhile, Smestow Academy is offering counselling support to pupils and families affected by the shocking event.
