Five men have been locked up for a savage street brawl in Birmingham that left two people injured and locals living in fear.

Chaos Erupts on Church Lane

On 27 March at around 3.30pm, Church Lane in Stechford exploded into violence as a gang wielding machetes, bats, and a gun unleashed a brutal attack caught on CCTV. Gunshots rang out in broad daylight before the gang fled the scene.

Two men needed hospital treatment — one suffering a gunshot wound, the other slashed with severe cuts.

Police Crack Down on Dangerous Gang

The Major Crime Team’s quick work and CCTV footage traced the attackers arriving in three cars. Their reckless gunfire endangered innocent bystanders, though thankfully no others were hit.

All five suspects were arrested and charged with attempted murder, violent disorder, and weapons offences.

Harsh Jail Sentences Handed Down

  • Eessa Alam (21), Liddon Road: 27 years for firearm possession with intent to endanger life, ammunition possession, carrying a blade, and two counts of attempted murder.
  • Casiim Montgomery (23), Mulwych Road: 22 years for firearm and ammunition offences plus grievous bodily harm.
  • Hamaad Raaja (18), Jephson Drive: 2 years 6 months for violent disorder and blade possession.
  • Mohammed Aadam (21), Audley Road: 2 years 4 months for violent disorder and blade possession.
  • Mohammed Zaheer (27), Audley Road: 1 year 9 months for violent disorder and carrying an offensive weapon.

This daylight rampage slammed the brakes on safety in Birmingham’s streets. With these stiff sentences, justice has finally caught up with the gang.
