David Lammy Blocks Killer’s Move to Open Prison

Justice Secretary David Lammy has slammed the brakes on convicted murderer Jake Fahri’s transfer to an open prison. Fahri, 36, was jailed for life in 2009 after brutally killing 16-year-old Jimmy Mizen in a South London bakery.

Killer’s Dark Past and Parole Scandal

  • Fahri threw an oven dish that shattered, slicing vital blood vessels in Jimmy’s neck, causing his death.
  • He was handed a minimum 14-year sentence and walked free on licence in 2023.
  • But he was snapped back behind bars in January this year after making drill music under the name “Ten,” with lyrics referencing the murder.

The Parole Board had initially nodded to Fahri’s move to an open prison but refused to release him again. They revealed Fahri first denied the lyrics were about the killing but later admitted he was “Ten.” He also broke licence rules by hiding the music from his probation officer.

Public Safety Comes First

An MoJ spokesperson confirmed Lammy’s intervention stops Fahri’s transfer “for public protection.” The victim’s mother, Margaret Mizen, applauded the decision, branding the Parole Board’s original greenlight “shocking.”

“This reversal shows Fahri has not changed his attitude,” she told The Sun.

BBC Under Fire for Playing Killer’s Tracks

Two songs by Fahri’s alter ego “Ten” were aired on BBC 1Xtra before his violent past emerged. The broadcaster insisted it was unaware of his criminal record at the time, stirring fresh backlash over their music vetting process.
