A Bridgend man has been slammed with an eight-week prison sentence just two days after he racially abused another man. On January 14, police raced to Merthyr Mawr Road following reports of a hate crime. Connell didn’t waste time pleading guilty to racially aggravated harassment. On January 16, just two days after the offence, the judge handed down a no-nonsense jail term, sending a clear message that racial abuse will not be tolerated.
Police Send Strong Warning on Hate Crime
Police Constable Danny Roberts of the Bridgend Neighbourhood Team slammed hate crimes hard:
“There is zero-tolerance for hate crime in our communities, and I hope this sentence reassures victims we will take their reports seriously. I hope it also gives Connell some time to reflect on his actions.”
