Four Dead in Shocking Bolton Taxi Crash

Taxi driver Masrob Ali, 54, was killed instantly in a horrific head-on crash in Bolton early Sunday. The smash claimed four lives, including three teenagers, and left five others seriously injured. CCTV captures the terrifying moment the collision ripped through Wigan Road just before 1am.

Speeding Teens On The Wrong Side

The tragedy involved Mr Ali’s Citroen C4 Picasso and a red Seat carrying three teenagers — Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, 18, Farhan Patel, 18, and Mohammed Danyaal, 19 — all of whom died at the scene. CCTV footage shows the Seat hurtling along the wrong side of the 30mph road before slamming head-on into the taxi.

Emergency crews raced to the crash after reports of a “very loud bang.” Firefighters spent two gruelling hours cutting victims free from the wreckage. Locals say the stretch of Wigan Road is a known hotspot for speeding and crashes. One witness said: “The other car was driving on the wrong side, smashed right into the taxi.”

Families Grieve As Police Launch Investigation

Bolton Council of Mosques named the victims and offered support to devastated families. Greater Manchester Police called for witnesses and anyone with footage to come forward. Chief Inspector Helen McCormack described the crash scene as “devastating” and urged drivers to stay safe on these dangerous roads.

Rumours of a police pursuit have been firmly denied by local councillors. Detective Inspector Andrew Page warned the public: “Please be respectful. Sharing footage online could be a criminal offence.”

Five Hurt, Some in Critical Condition

  • A 29-year-old woman in the taxi fights for life with critical injuries.
  • A 28-year-old woman and 30-year-old man remain seriously injured.
  • A 29-year-old man and an 18-year-old from the Seat suffered minor injuries.

Mr Ali, a devoted father-of-four from Blackburn, had been a private hire driver for a decade. His daughter, Humayra Ali, 29, paid a heartfelt tribute: “My dad was the kindest man. Everyone said he had the sweetest, most gentle soul. He always had a smile and was there for everyone. He worked hard right until the end. No one ever had a bad word for him.”
