Four Dead in Horror Head-On Crash on Wigan Road, Bolton
Tragedy struck Greater Manchester in the early hours of January 11. A red Seat Leon collided head-on with a Citroën C4 Picasso on Wigan Road, Bolton. Four people, including three teenagers, died instantly at the scene.
Victims Named: Teens and Taxi Driver Die in Fiery Smash
The Bolton Council of Mosques has identified the three teenage victims as Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, Farhan Patel, and Muhammad Danyaal Asghar Ali, all aged 18 to 19. The taxi driver, understood to be in his 50s, was named as Mosrab Ali.
All four died on impact. Meanwhile, five others were rushed to hospital with injuries.
Heroic Rescue Efforts Amid Devastation
Chief Inspector Helen McCormick called the scene “particularly challenging” and the crash “devastating.” Three fire engines and a technical response unit arrived quickly. Firefighters used cutting tools to free passengers trapped in the wreckage before ambulance crews took over.
Emergency teams worked for nearly two hours to manage the aftermath.
A witness said they were jolted awake by a “loud bang” and saw a mangled red car surrounded by “quite a bit of debris” on the road.
Community Reels as Bolton Mourns
Bolton Councillor Ayyub Patel voiced the town’s grief over the “incredibly tragic incident.” He sent “heartfelt condolences” to the victims’ families.
“Residents will need time to process and recover from such a profound loss,” Patel said, urging everyone to “avoid speculation and allow the investigation to take its proper course.”
