A London science teacher has been permanently banned after secretly recorded messages revealed him making shocking sexual comments to a pupil. The scandal has rocked St Mark’s School in south London.
Lewd Messages Exposed
Amrinder Singh Pannu, 38, head of science at St Mark’s, was caught on tape telling a student, known only as Pupil A, she had a “nice arse” and called her “one horny girl.” In one voice note, he said, “You’re not teasing me, I know you want it.”
The pupil even asked, “So when I turn 18, you’ll have sex with me, right?” Pannu replied, “A few months then later, yeah.”
Whistleblowers Trigger Investigation
The bombshell recordings landed in the inbox of three staff members who immediately alerted school bosses. Pannu was swiftly suspended and investigated.
The pupil revealed he warned her not to tell anyone, saying it would “ruin his life.” She started secretly recording after friends didn’t believe her.
Teacher’s Weak Defence Rejected
At his disciplinary hearing, Pannu claimed the pupil’s behaviour was “akin to a crush or pushing boundaries.” He insisted there was no physical contact, noting they were separated by a desk throughout.
But the Teaching Regulatory Agency panel saw through his excuses and handed him a permanent teaching ban with no right of appeal.
School Speaks Out: Incident From 2018 Already Addressed
Anthem Schools Trust, which runs St Mark’s, stated: “The teacher was suspended and dismissed seven years ago once the incident came to light. This is a case from 2018 under previous leadership. No current students were taught by this individual.”
St Mark’s has since secured an “Outstanding” Ofsted rating for student wellbeing and success, vowing to keep pupils safe.
