Lifetime Sex Offender Caught After Shocking Child Sex Crimes
Timothy Harris, 46, from Leyton, was slammed with a 14-year prison sentence for vile sex offences against children under 13. His sickening crimes include indecent acts in front of a child and multiple counts of intentionally touching youngsters.
Harris Tried to Dodge Police for Years
Harris was first slapped on the sex offenders register for life back in 2016 after raping a homeless teenager. Despite a three-year stretch behind bars, he repeatedly broke the law by hiding his location and failing to notify police when he moved to Norfolk.
Big Catch in Norfolk Leads to Heavy Sentence
He was finally arrested in Leyton in December 2024, suspected of sexually assaulting two children in Norfolk. Harris denied the charges but was convicted at Norwich Crown Court on September 26. Alongside 14 years in prison, he’ll serve an extra four years on licence.
Police Praise Victims’ Courage
“These were abhorrent offences committed in breach of a court order put in place to manage those on the Sex Offenders Register carefully,” said PC Gary Ranger.
“He tried hard to cover his tracks by failing to notify police he had moved but was found out due to the courage and bravery of his victims.
“Norfolk police will always pursue such offenders both historic and recent to keep people safe and ensure dangerous and predatory offenders like Harris are brought to justice.”
