A46 Road Chaos as Overturned Lorry Blocks Key Route
Major Closure Following Heavy Goods Vehicle Crash
A single-vehicle accident involving a heavy goods vehicle has caused chaos on the A46. The lorry overturned and ended up down the embankment in the verge, forcing a full road closure. Nottinghamshire Police and specialist recovery crews are on the scene, working hard to clear the wreck and get traffic moving again.
Detours in Place – Plan Your Route Now
The closure is necessary for safety and to allow a full investigation. To ease delays, diversion routes have been set up for both southbound and northbound drivers:
- Southbound: Exit the A46 at junction 1, head onto the A1 northbound, then take the North Muskham exit. Follow the roundabout’s first exit onto the B6325 heading south, continue through South Muskham, then join the A616 to reconnect with the A46 at the Cattle Market roundabout.
- Northbound: Leave the A46 at the Cattle Market roundabout onto the A616 northbound. At South Muskham’s mini roundabout, continue north on the B6325. Take the last exit at the A1 junction, join the A1 southbound for 3.6km, then exit at Newark to rejoin the A46.
