Drug Dealer Busted Three Times in Town
Ashley Burroughs, 28, of Bilton Road, was caught red-handed three times dealing drugs around town. The first bust happened at a hotel near the town centre on June 14, 2021.
Plain-Clothes Cops Spot Deal
Undercover detectives spotted a known drug user enter the hotel and leave moments later. They suspected a drug deal had gone down involving £123 cash and two phones.
One phone revealed chilling texts: “Started my flake line up again” and “got the most sickest flake,” referring to crack cocaine.
Burroughs was arrested but refused to say a word during his interview, sticking with a ‘no comment’ stance.
Charged and Sentenced
Days after, Burroughs was slapped with charges for two counts of possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply and one count for cocaine. He later pleaded guilty.
At Warwick Crown Court on March 29, he was handed a two-year prison sentence.
Detective Condemns Dealings
“Burroughs wanted to hit the gym and rock designer clobber — but he chose to sell deadly drugs to vulnerable people to fund it,” said Detective Constable Thomas Quinlan of Rugby CID.
“When Burroughs was caught the first time, he got tangled up in debt with dangerous criminals. His drug dealing quickly escalated from a side hustle to serious trouble.
“If anyone’s wondering whether dealing toxic drugs and joining violent gangs for quick cash is worth it, I hope this case makes that clear.
“That said, we all hope Burroughs enjoys using the gym facilities… in prison.”
