Erith Shooting: Kai McGinley Identified as Victim

Kai McGinley, 24, has been named as the tragic victim of last night’s brutal shooting in Erith. Police raced to Pembroke Road just before 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, after reports of gunfire. Forensics teams remain at the scene today.

Witnesses say the shooting followed a dramatic chase involving a white Mini Clubman and a Land Rover Freelander. Attackers rammed the Mini, then surrounded Kai’s vehicle and fired twice. He was found with a gunshot wound on Hillside and died at the scene despite paramedics’ efforts.

Heartbreaking Tributes Pour In on Social Media

Friends and family have flooded Kai’s berkshire999.co.uk/topic/facebook" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Facebook profile with emotional messages. One wrote: “Rest in peace, my boy.” His girlfriend posted: “Tonight, my boyfriend died on the scene. Please give me some time to grieve. If anyone has info about this, contact the police or me.”

A cousin added: “I’m numb. He was more like a brother. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.” Other mourners wrote, “My heart is broken. Sleep well, my angel,” and “Rest in beautiful and perfect peace, Kai.”

Community in Shock as Police Hunt Gunmen

Local residents reported hearing up to seven gunshots. One witness described hearing multiple shots, a scream, and neighbours rushing to help, bloodied towels in hand. “My neighbour was frozen with shock,” he said.

Road closures remain in place and the shooter is still at large. Police have made no arrests yet.
