Blaze Breaks Out on Roof Terrace of Six-Storey Building
Firefighters Douse Flames on Roof
A fire ripped through the roof terrace of a six-storey building, sparking serious concern but thankfully causing no injuries. Fire crews raced to the scene and managed to contain the blaze to the rooftop area.
Propane Cylinder Danger
Station Commander Stephen-Remell Coleman revealed firefighters had to cool a 5kg propane cylinder caught up in the fire. “Some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat,” he warned. The teams worked swiftly to prevent an explosion.
Smoke Sparks Multiple Emergency Calls
The thick smoke from the fire led to seven urgent calls to the Brigade’s 999 Control Room. Several nearby roads were closed temporarily as fire engines battled the flames.
Fast Response from Multiple Stations
The London Fire Brigade was alerted at 10:58am. Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters from Kensington, Hammersmith, Soho, North Kensington, and Battersea stations were on scene. The fire was extinguished by 1:31pm.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
