Dramatic Care Home Blaze: Man Rescued as Fire Rips Through Flat
Heroic Rescue in Goodmayes Blaze
Firefighters rushed to a care home on Abbotsford Road, Goodmayes, last night after a fire broke out in a first-floor flat. Wearing breathing apparatus, crews bravely rescued a man via an internal staircase before London Ambulance Service took him to hospital. Another 13 residents were swiftly helped to safety.
Smoking Sparks Devastating Fire
The blaze, which damaged half the flat, is believed to have started accidentally from smoking materials. A London Fire Brigade spokesperson warned, “We’d rather you didn’t smoke at all, but if you do, it’s absolutely critical to make sure your cigarette is completely out before you finish.”
“If you don’t, you risk starting a fire that will not only destroy your home but will also cost you your life.”
Fast Response Put Out Fire
The brigade was called at 9.53pm, and the fire was extinguished by 11.13pm. Crews from Dagenham, Barking, Romford, and Ilford worked together to contain the blaze and protect residents.
