Police Storm Property After Burglary Call
Kent Police swooped on a Rochester house in Gordon Road at 3.45am on 19 August, initially tipped off about a possible burglary. What they found was a major cannabis operation.
54 Cannabis Plants Seized From Multiple Rooms
Inside, cops discovered 54 cannabis plants spread across several rooms. The grow operation was quickly dismantled, and all plants were seized and removed.
Electricity Theft Poses Serious Safety Risk
Officers also found evidence that the electricity supply was being illegally tapped to power the grow lights. An electrical engineer was called in to make the scene safe – thieves rigging up power puts neighbours in danger.
Chief Inspector Mat Burbeck said, “Cultivations like this put money in the hands of organised criminals and often attract associated offending, such as antisocial behaviour. They exploit vulnerable people and create dangerous conditions through electricity theft, which is a serious risk to nearby homes.”
No Arrests Yet But Investigation Ongoing
So far, no arrests have been made. Kent Police continue to probe the case and urge anyone with information to get in touch.
