A raging blaze ripped through three properties in Folkestone on Monday afternoon, sparking a major emergency response across Kent.
Flames Rip Through Wear Bay Crescent
The fire broke out just after 2pm on Wear Bay Crescent, quickly engulfing one home before spreading to neighbouring properties. Eight fire engines from Dover and Folkestone rushed to the scene, along with an aerial ladder platform to battle the inferno from above.
Pensioners Saved as Evacuations Underway
Two elderly residents were safely led from their burning home by brave firefighters. Police have shut the road and evacuated nearby homes amid thick, choking smoke that forced locals to keep windows and doors shut.
Firefighters Battle Blaze With Full Force
Fire crews in breathing apparatus are tackling the blaze using two hose reels, multiple jets, compressed air foam, and water from hydrants. The fire has spread slowly but steadily to the roofs of the houses.
Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman: “Firefighters remain at the scene of a fire affecting three domestic properties on Wear Bay Crescent in Folkestone. Crews are using hose reel jets, compressed air foam, and water from a hydrant to tackle the blaze and reduce its spread. A height vehicle and bulk water carrier have also been deployed.”
