Met Police Officer Axed Over Sex with Trainee Near King’s Cross
A Metropolitan Police officer has been sacked after a scandalous sexual encounter with a trainee near King’s Cross Station. PC Ridhwaan Zina was dismissed following an incident on August 26, 2022, after a night out with colleagues.
Breaching Trust and Rules
PC Zina, who was a street-duty tutor, broke strict force rules forbidding any intimate relations with trainees. After leaving a pub together, Zina and the trainee—who was reportedly confused and heavily intoxicated—failed to book a hotel and ended up having sex on a deserted street.
The trainee, clearly distressed, reported the incident to her mother and lodged a formal complaint, claiming the sex was non-consensual. While no criminal charges were brought against Zina, the complaint sparked an internal misconduct probe.
Top Brass Slam Officer’s Conduct
“Having sex with a trainee, even one not under his direct authority, was a blatant violation of his responsibilities,” said Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor. “He was clearly warned about his personal conduct. This was a major conflict of interest and breach of trust.”
Immediate Dismissal Amid Public Outcry
The hearing ruled for Zina’s instant dismissal without notice. He resigned in early July following the internal review and growing public outrage.
The Met continues to grapple with questions over officer behaviour and its handling of misconduct, highlighting ongoing struggles to uphold public trust.
