Tragic Wimbledon School Crash: No Charges for Driver After Epileptic Seizure
Two eight-year-old girls, Nuria Sajjad and Selena Lau, lost their lives in a horrific crash at The Study Preparatory School in Wimbledon last July. A Land Rover smashed into an end-of-term tea party on July 6, 2023, killing the young pupils instantly.
Driver Avoids Prosecution Over Seizure
Metropolitan Police have confirmed the woman behind the wheel will face no criminal charges. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) revealed the driver suffered an epileptic seizure, losing control of the vehicle before the deadly collision.
“We have carefully considered this complex and sensitive situation,” said Jaswant Narwal, CPS representative. “The driver’s epileptic seizure led to the tragic loss of control and collision.”
Injuries and Family Reaction
Besides the two girls who died, sixteen people were injured in the crash. The bereaved families of Nuria Sajjad and Selena Lau have been informed of the CPS decision and are reportedly disappointed by the outcome.
The shocking incident shook the Wimbledon community and raised questions about road safety and medical conditions behind the wheel.
