Vandals Smash Life-Saving Defibrillator Outside Football Club

Police rushed to Framfield Road, Buxted, after midnight wreckage of a vital defibrillator outside Buxted Football Club was reported on Sunday, 13 June 2021.

CCTV Captures Shocking Attack

Footage showed 23-year-old Harrison O’Doherty and 21-year-old Lucy Russell, both from Polegate, launching an unhinged assault on the device. They were seen throwing, kicking, and even spitting on the crucial life-saving equipment.

Charged and Ordered to Make Amends

  • Both arrested and charged with criminal damage.
  • O’Doherty also slapped with a cannabis possession charge from a separate incident.

At Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 1 November, both pleaded guilty. They received 12-month community orders, including 100 hours of unpaid work.

Additionally, they face costs of £85, a £95 victim surcharge, and must pay £500 in compensation to the South East Coast Ambulance Service for the smashed defibrillator.
