Cop crackdown on off-road bike chaos in Gedling
High-visibility patrols target troublemakers
Police have stepped up patrols on off-road motorbikes around Gedling and nearby areas to tackle the rising nuisance of illegal bike riding. Officers hit parks and green spaces, responding to a flood of complaints from concerned locals fed up with noisy bikers tearing through public areas.
Riders face warnings and cannabis bust
During a patrol at Calverton pit site, cops caught a rider in the act. He was slapped with a Section 59 warning — a notice that could see the bike seized if the rider causes more antisocial trouble. The same rider was also found with cannabis and escorted off site. Other riders handed similar warnings as police made their presence felt.
Community support fuels efforts
Officers mingled with dog walkers and residents, listening to their concerns and reassuring the public. Sunday’s operation, led by PC Tom Packer and PCSO Trevor Parkinson, covered hotspots including Netherfield, Calverton, Arnold, Carlton, Mapperley, and Lambley.
Warning to offenders – prosecution and seizures ahead
Inspector Mark Stanley, Gedling’s Neighbourhood Policing lead, said:
“This was intelligence-led action based on public tips. We had positive chats with locals, many happy to see us out there. We’re listening, taking concerns seriously, and won’t back down on antisocial off-road biking.”
Nottinghamshire Police urge anyone witnessing illegal off-road bike activity to dial 101 and report it. More patrols will follow to keep communities safe.
