Cash and Jewels Stolen After Man Poses as Water Inspector
A daring burglary unfolded on Chestnut Street at around 3.15pm on Tuesday, July 12. A man knocked on the victim’s door, claiming he was there to check the water pressure. Trusting him, the resident let him in – but it was a trick.
£600 Looted in Heartless Heist
The offender made off with about £100 in cash plus several cherished items, including watches valued at around £500 and diamond rings. Police believe this sneaky burglar is linked to other break-ins in the town and north Manchester.
Police Appeal for Help and Warn Residents
Detectives have released CCTV images of a man they want to question, convinced he may hold vital clues. Detective Sergeant Matthew Adshead of GMP’s Oldham district slammed the crime as “deliberate and cowardly.”
“What happened to this elderly gentleman is appalling, and he is understandably shaken,” said Adshead. “We’re determined to reunite him with his lost items and catch the culprit.”
Officers urge everyone to be cautious about letting strangers into their homes without proper ID. If in doubt, always call 999.
