Tragic Toll Bar Fire Claims Father and Daughter
A deadly blaze ripped through a home at Toll Bar Houses, Distington, on Sunday 22nd May, leaving a father and daughter dead. Police have named the victims as Paul “Archie” Scott, 58, and his 14-year-old daughter Mia Carole Scott. Formal identification is still pending.
Investigation Underway but No Suspicion
Authorities say the fire is not being treated as suspicious. An ongoing investigation is being carried out on behalf of the coroner to determine the exact cause.
Family and Community Mourn the Loss
The grieving family has released two heartfelt photos in memory of Archie and Mia. Tributes have poured in from the local community and Mia’s school.
Des Bird, Executive Headteacher at Workington Academy, said: “The whole school community is shocked at this incredibly sad news and we offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to all Mia’s family and friends.
“Mia was such a kind and caring girl, always smiling and helping others. She had the most infectious sense of humour and always saw the good in every situation. She was an amazing and loyal friend who will be sadly missed by all of the teachers and students in our school.
“Workington Academy is part of a close-knit community and the loss of Mia and her father will be felt keenly by very many people.
“We will be holding assemblies to remember them and to ensure that everyone knows there is specialist support available for both our young people and our staff.”
