School Caretaker Victor Jacob Jailed for Sick Child Sex Abuse

Victor Jacob, 76, from Balmoral Crescent, Macclesfield, was handed a prison sentence at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, 24 September. He was found guilty after a five-week trial of 36 offences, including multiple counts of indecent assault on boys under 16, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, and other child sex crimes.

Five Victims, Decades of Abuse

Jacob abused five boys at various times between October 1979 and May 2007. The victims, all aged 11 or older, were groomed by Jacob, who gained their trust before sexually abusing them. He was the caretaker and groundsman at their school in berkshire999.co.uk/where/bromley/" title="Bromley" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Bromley and had further contact as a Scout leader.

Abuse Uncovered After Years – Police Crack Down

The abuse happened in several different locations. In 2017, three men came forward independently to say Jacob had abused them as boys. A tough investigation by the South East Public Protection Team then uncovered two more victims.

Jacob was interviewed under caution in February 2018 and formally charged in October 2019. He was also slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Detective Praises Victims’ Courage

“Jacob’s conviction shows that no matter how long it’s been, we will hunt down and punish those who prey on the vulnerable,” said Detective Constable Mark Tarrant.

“The five men abused by Jacob have carried this burden for years. I commend their bravery through this distressing process.

No more victims will suffer at Jacob’s hands. I hope this brings some comfort to the men as they try to move on.”
