Needles Coastguard swooped in to assist the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service after a 57-year-old woman was found injured at the bottom of Compton Steps. The scene posed a serious challenge due to the cliffside terrain and rising tides.

Helicopter Called In for Quick Escape

After assessing the injuries and hazardous surroundings, emergency teams agreed the safest way to get the woman to hospital was by air. The Coastguard helicopter landed close by, ready for the swift extraction.

Swift Transfer to Hospital

The casualty was carefully stabilised, packaged, and carried aboard the helicopter. She was flown directly to St Mary’s Hospital for urgent treatment, ending a tense rescue mission.
