Teenager Arrested After Brutal Blackpool Beating Near RNLI
Victim Left with Serious Injuries
A man in his forties was found badly battered and robbed near the RNLI early yesterday morning. A passerby spotted the injured victim and alerted police.
The victim suffered multiple broken bones, deep cuts, and extensive bruising but, thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening. He was rushed to hospital for urgent care and therapy.
16-Year-Old in Custody
Officers quickly identified a suspect and arrested a 16-year-old boy at a local address. The teenager, from Blackpool, has been charged with theft and is due to appear at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday, September 1st).
Police Condemn Shocking Violence
“The level of violence shown by this suspect towards a helpless man minding his own business is frankly shocking and inexcusable,” said Detective Superintendent Becky Smith of Blackpool Police.
“Worse still, an accomplice stood by filming the attack without intervening or helping the victim. In my 29 years of policing Blackpool, I’ve seen terrible crimes — but we are fortunate this is not a murder investigation, supporting a grieving family.”
“This does not lessen the severity of the attack. The victim was left severely injured, and such violence will never be tolerated in our communities.”
“I thank those who have come forward with information and urge anyone else who witnessed the incident to contact us.”
