Euston Knife Man Busted and Jailed
Robert Thomas, 34, with no fixed address, was locked up for six months after being caught carrying a knife near Euston station. He pleaded guilty at North London Magistrates’ Court on 6 August and was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court on 30 September.
Snitched by Public, Caught with Stanley Knife
On 5 August at 3.45pm, a vigilant member of the public tipped off a patrolling officer about Thomas messing with a bike bag outside Euston station. The officer stopped and searched him. Thomas immediately admitted to carrying a Stanley knife.
The blade was seized, and Thomas was arrested for possession of a pointed or bladed article.
Crackdown on Knife Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour
BTP Police Sergeant David Underwood slammed Thomas’s actions: “Carrying a knife in public is never acceptable.” He added Thomas had a history of anti-social offences over the past year.
The sentencing came as part of Operation Mammoth, a joint effort by British Transport Police, Metropolitan Police, and Camden Council targeting street anti-social behaviour caused by the local street population.
Thomas must also pay a £128 victim surcharge and has been slapped with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) to keep him in check.
