American Bulldog on Loose After Two Dog Attacks in Basingstoke
Police are hunting an American Bulldog after it went on the attack twice in Basingstoke. The fierce canine injured two Labradors, leaving owners shaken and dogs needing urgent vet care.
First Attack: Brighton Hill Sports Pavilion
The trouble kicked off at 11am on September 1 near Brighton Hill Sports Pavilion in Gershwin Road. A Labrador Assistance Dog suffered a nasty puncture wound to the neck and muscle damage. The dog’s 31-year-old owner also got hurt trying to break up the fight, suffering injuries to her hands.
Second Incident: Hatch Warren Way
Hours earlier, between 6.45am and 7.15am, another Labrador was mauled on Hatch Warren Way. Its 32-year-old owner was out for a walk when the unleashed American Bulldog attacked, biting the dog’s neck and forcing another trip to the vet.
Police Appeal for Info
The American Bulldog isn’t a banned breed, but police say it’s currently held in secure kennels. The dog’s owner will be interviewed soon. Anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting reference 44200336372.
