Gun Crime Crackdown: Duo Caught with Loaded Glock in Car
A woman and a man have been found guilty of carrying a loaded firearm and ammunition after a tense nine-day trial at Croydon Crown Court.
Bekki Dean and Bradley Clancy Guilty of Serious Firearms Offences
Bekki Dean, 26, from Carshalton, and 39-year-old Bradley Clancy, of no fixed address, were convicted on Friday, 11 September. Dean faces charges including conspiracy to transfer a firearm and possession of a gun and ammo with intent to endanger life. Clancy was found guilty of similar charges, plus conspiracy to transfer a firearm.
The pair are due to be sentenced at Croydon Crown Court on 29 October.
Police Sting Seizes Glock Hidden in Designer Bag
The firearms bust happened after a proactive London operation targeting gun crime. On 14 August 2019, specialist officers pulled over a black Volkswagen Polo on Peterborough Road, Carshalton, driven by Dean.
Dean, on the phone to someone saved as “Bradley,” surprisingly admitted there was a gun inside the car before officers searched it. A Louis Vuitton handbag was found on the passenger seat, containing a smaller bag with a loaded Glock model 19 9mm pistol and ammo.
Dean was arrested on the spot but refused to provide details about the gun or the man she claimed forced her to carry it.
Forensics Snare Clancy in Dangerous Gun Plot
Investigators used phone records to link Dean and Clancy, revealing calls and texts minutes before Dean’s arrest. Clancy’s phone was tracked close to the scene.
DNA swabs from Clancy matched the gun’s muzzle, confirming his contact with the weapon. He was arrested and charged in October 2019, sealing the case against both accused.
Detective Constable Andy Snazell said: “This stop led to the safe removal of a dangerous firearm from London’s streets. Our forensic experts linked Clancy to the crime, which was crucial to securing these convictions.
“No one in London should have a gun in their car. We are committed to arresting and prosecuting anyone who does.”
