North Surrey Man Busted on Multiple Terror Charges
Met’s Counter Terror Unit Strikes
Michael Nugent, 37, from north Surrey, was arrested by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command on Wednesday, 19 August. The man faces a slew of serious terror-related charges.
Charged with Terrorism Offences
On Tuesday, 25 August, Nugent was formally charged with:
- Two counts of encouragement of terrorism under section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006
- One count of disseminating a terrorist publication under section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006
- Nine counts of collecting information likely useful for committing or preparing terrorism, contrary to section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000
Remanded in Custody
Nugent remains in custody and is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later today. The investigation is ongoing as authorities clamp down on terror threats.
