Drugs-Fuelled Driver Jailed for Horrific Sevenoaks Head-On Crash
Reckless Stunt Left Woman Seriously Injured
Aurimas Stipinas, 26, sparked chaos on a bend in Rushmore Hill, Sevenoaks, when his Citroen Picasso veered violently into oncoming traffic. The collision with a Fiat 500 left the woman behind the wheel with serious back injuries. Stipinas and his passenger both suffered leg wounds.
Under the Influence of Cocaine and Cannabis
Police swooped after being called at around 4pm on 8 February 2020. Stipinas was arrested after failing a roadside drugs test and found driving without insurance. Witnesses reported the Islington man was speeding, dangerously overtaking, and driving on the wrong side of the road moments before the crash.
Blood tests revealed cocaine and cannabis levels far above the legal limit. Prosecutors charged Stipinas with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drugs, and driving without insurance.
Two Years Behind Bars and Banned from the Road
On 12 August, Maidstone Crown Court sentenced Stipinas to two years in prison. He also received a three-year driving ban and must pass an extended driving test before hitting the road again.
“Stipinas’ reckless behaviour could have been fatal,” said PC Belinda Croft, lead investigator. “His selfish actions have left two people with serious injuries and potentially lifelong health problems. The drugs in his system proved he was unfit to drive. A custodial sentence was inevitable.”
