Camden Man Jailed for Hidden Cannabis Farm and Class A Drugs
A 59-year-old man has been locked up after police discovered a secret cannabis farm and a stash of heroin and crack cocaine during a raid in Camden.
Michael Ryan Caught with £2,000 Worth of Drugs
Michael Ryan, from Cranleigh Street, Camden, was sentenced to three years at Wood Green Crown Court on Wednesday, 12 August. He pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis and possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.
Officers from the Central North Gangs unit executed an intelligence-led search warrant at Ryan’s home on 27 March. Tips from the public led them straight to the drugs operation.
Hidden Cannabis Farm and Dangerous Fire Hazard Uncovered
Inside Ryan’s house, police found 193 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine worth roughly £2,000. They also uncovered 60 mature cannabis plants in a spare room cleverly disguised as a built-in cupboard. Even worse, the electricity meter had been bypassed – creating a serious fire risk for Ryan and his neighbours.
Ryan was arrested on the spot and charged the next day.
Police Praise Public and Vow to Crack Down on Drug Supply
“Information from the public is crucial and in this case, led to drugs being taken off the street and a fire hazard being removed,” said Detective Sergeant Richard Greenwood.
“This arrest shows the proactive policing happening across Camden and Islington. Drug supply fuels much of the violence we see here, which is why destroying cannabis farms is vital.”
“We will keep using all tactics to cut anti-social behaviour and bring criminals to justice.”
