Police Fall Silent to Honour Hero PC Andrew Harper
At 11am today, police forces across the UK stood silent to remember PC Andrew Harper, marking one year since his tragic death. The brave officer was killed on 15 August 2019 in Sulhamstead, Berkshire, while responding to a burglary report with a colleague.
Remembering a True Police Hero
Thames Valley Police hailed Andrew as the best example of policing. “He was everything you wanted in a police officer – authentic, brave, genuine, and kind,” they said.
“On 15 August 2019, we lost our friend and colleague. Today, colleagues across the country observe a minute’s silence to honour PC Andrew Harper. If you are able, please join us.”
Lissie Harper’s Heartbreaking Tribute to Her Husband
At Andrew’s funeral, his wife Lissie paid a moving tribute to her “kind, brave and lovely” husband. She spoke of their lifelong love story and the deep bond they shared.
“From the sweet, lanky boy passing notes in class to the strong, loyal man you became – I’ve always known how special you are. We were childhood sweethearts, and not a day passed without us saying ‘I love you’. You used to say we were a team, and I wish you were here with me now.”
“In 13 years, we packed in incredible memories – travelling, buying a home, marrying. You had a contagious love for life, filling each day with laughter and cherishing the little things.”
“You were a protector – as a big brother, friend, husband, and officer. Everything was better with you around. Though strong, you were gentleness itself, a giant with a heart of gold.”
