Serious Crash Shuts M27 Westbound Near Park Gate
A major collision between a car and a motorcycle has slammed the M27 westbound, forcing closures between Junction 9 (Park Gate) and Junction 8. Motorists face lengthy delays as emergency crews deal with the wreckage.
Massive Diversion in Place
Drivers are being diverted off the motorway at Junction 9, routed along the A27 and A3024, and back on at Junction 8 following hollow square signs. Hampshire Constabulary’s roads policing teams from Havant, alongside Highways England, are managing the scene.
Trapped Traffic Turned Around
Police have begun turning stranded vehicles around to exit the motorway. Drivers are urged to remain in their cars and follow instructions from officers on the ground.
Serious Injuries Likely; Investigation Underway
A full collision probe is underway. The closure is expected to last several hours, potentially into the morning rush hour. No updates yet on the rider’s condition, but authorities fear serious, life-changing injuries.
“Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to call 101, quoting reference 818:20/05,” Hampshire police said.
Officers aim to reopen the road by 5am. More updates to follow.
