Fire crews rushed to Melville Street, Ryde, late Wednesday night after an alarm call sparked panic.
Blazing False Alarm Sparks Emergency Response
Just after 9pm, two fire engines from Ryde Fire Station were scrambled to the scene. Firefighters conducted a thorough search and, thankfully, found no trace of fire. The building was declared safe.
Police Arrest Two Over Disturbance
Hampshire Constabulary were also quick to respond. Officers removed two people from the property. Both were arrested on suspicion of public order offences and possession of an offensive weapon, and taken to Newport Police Station.
Neighbour’s Chilling Account
A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed the suspect was brandishing a knife. “He was carrying a knife, so we called the police,” they said.
