Romford Knife Thug Locked Up for Brutal Attack on Vulnerable Man

A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to 16 years behind bars after stabbing a vulnerable 56-year-old man multiple times in a shocking late-night attack.

Stabbed Multiple Times in Cold Blood

Scott Slade of Yew Tree Gardens, Romford, pleaded guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court to grievous bodily harm with intent. The horrific assault happened just after 11pm on Sunday, 9 September 2018, at an address in Yew Tree Gardens.

Slade viciously attacked the victim—who he knew personally—with a kitchen knife, stabbing him in the chest, arm and back. The blade pierced vital organs including the stomach, lung, diaphragm, and spleen.

Thug Flees, Threatens Victim

After the savage attack, Slade fled the scene, leaving the victim bleeding heavily. He warned him not to tell anyone or face death if he spoke out.

Family members discovered the wounded man 11 minutes later and alerted emergency services. The victim was rushed to hospital and placed in an induced coma. He spent two weeks in critical care and still requires ongoing treatment. His recovery remains uncertain, and he may never walk unaided again.

Police Nab Armed Attacker

Police sprang into action, tracing Slade to Rush Green Road, Romford. Officers arrested him at 11.50pm—still clutching the weapon used in the attack.

Detective Inspector Jason Prendergast condemned the assault as “violent and cowardly” and welcomed the lengthy prison term.

“It is only right that Slade will spend a long time in prison. The victim has not fully recovered and he may not walk unaided again. I hope that the lengthy prison sentence provides the victim and his family with some measure of comfort.”
