Tragedy on Malden Road: Pensioner Killed in Collision

Detectives have named the man who died in a fatal crash in North Cheam, Sutton. Roger Jones, 74, lost his life after being struck by a red Ford Focus on Malden Road late Wednesday night, 30 January.

Roger Jones Dies at Scene

Police were called just after 10.30pm following reports of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. Sadly, Roger Jones died at the scene. His devastated family are receiving help from specialist officers with the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Detective Inspector Fiona Craig said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this most difficult time. We are working hard to piece together exactly what happened.”

She added: “If you saw the collision or the red Ford Focus on Malden Road beforehand, especially near the A24 junction, please get in touch. Any dashcam footage could be vital.”

Driver Co-operating, No Arrests Yet

The driver of the Ford Focus stayed at the scene and is assisting police. No arrests have been made so far.
