RNLI Lifeboats Launch Daring Rescue of Woman in Medical Crisis on Houseboat

On Tuesday 29 January at 9.08pm, Calshot RNLI volunteers sprang into action. Both Atlantic 85 and D Class lifeboats were launched to help with a high-stakes rescue of a woman in her 40s needing urgent medical care.

Multi-Agency Team Race to Rescue

The casualty was trapped on a houseboat moored just north of Northam Bridge. South Central Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), Calshot RNLI, and the Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team teamed up for the daring evacuation.

Paramedics treated the woman on-site, but her precarious location called for a lifeboat extraction. Calshot RNLI’s D Class Lifeboat safely transferred her from the boat to the shore at Saxon Wharf, where she was handed over to ambulance teams for hospital care.

Rescue Complete, Lifeboats Ready for Next Call

The operation wrapped up by 12.30am when the volunteer crews returned to base. The lifeboats were quickly washed down, refuelled, and prepped for their next emergency mission—ready to save lives at a moment’s notice.
