Yobs Smash Cars and Throw Concrete at Bus Passenger on Isle of Wight

Police are hunting troublemakers after a night of vandalism and violence in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, on Saturday 24 March.

Youths Smash Two Cars in Late-Night Spree

Just after 10:50pm, officers were called to Upper Princes Road and School Green Road. Two cars were targeted by a gang of youths. One vehicle had its wing mirror shattered, while the other’s rear window was smashed.

A 17-year-old local lad was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage but released without charge. The investigation, however, is still ongoing.

Concrete Block Hurled at Bus Passengers

About 11:30pm, chaos continued when someone threw a heavy concrete block through the window of a bus on Heathfield Road. A 49-year-old passenger was cut when the glass shattered.

PC Martin Egerton, leading the probe into the bus attack, said: “This was a dangerous and irresponsible act that could have resulted in serious injuries to the passenger, who thankfully was only left with a cut to his head.”

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated,” PC Egerton added. Police are urging anyone with info to step up and help catch those responsible.
