A3 Shutdown as British Army Recovers Stormer Vehicle

On Thursday, 30th November 2017, Hampshire Roads Policing shut the southbound A3 near Clanfield to help the British Army recover a Stormer vehicle.

Stormer Vehicle Sides Off Into Layby

The tracked Stormer reportedly veered off the A3 and ended up in a nearby layby, forcing the closure of the carriageway. This military vehicle is no ordinary ride—it’s designed to carry the Starstreak High Velocity Missile (HVM) system, armed with eight missiles ready to fire and nine more stashed inside.

Specialist Recovery Crew Called In

A specialist Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) team from Whale Island swung into action with a massive 38-ton recovery vehicle to haul the Stormer back onto solid ground.
