Chaos on A323 as Three-Vehicle Smash Shuts Key Commuter Route
Police slammed the brakes on the A323 Aldershot Road in Guildford after a nasty three-vehicle crash brought traffic to a standstill. The collision, involving a Ford Transit van and two cars, blocked the road near Frog Green Lane and Cobbett Hill Road in both directions.
Crash Sparks Major Traffic Jam
The smash happened just after 6pm on Friday, causing oil to spill onto the road from two vehicles’ damaged front wheels. Traffic soon snarled back all the way to Fairlands Roundabout, where police also set up a second closure to reroute frustrated drivers away from the chaos.
Injuries Reported But Not Serious
Several people were rushed to hospital by St John’s Ambulance, but luckily none are believed to have life-threatening injuries. Officers at the scene said recovery teams were on their way to clear the wreckage and get the road safe for motorists again.
Police Direct Traffic, Await Tow Trucks
“We’re working to remove the vehicles and make the area safe,” officers confirmed. Commuters are advised to avoid the area and expect delays while emergency crews tackle the aftermath of the collision.
