Firefighters have issued a serious safety warning after a hoverboard caught fire while being used by a child in West Norwood. The self-balancing scooter burst into flames just minutes after use, sparking fears over product safety.
Blazing Hoverboard Sparks Alarm
The London Fire Brigade rushed to Tannoy Square, where the hoverboard was already engulfed in flames. Thankfully, the child riding it escaped injury as the blaze was quickly extinguished.

Charlie Pugsley, Head of Fire Investigation at London Fire Brigade, said: “Hoverboards might be the must-have gadget, but we have serious concerns that some non-compliant models on sale could be unsafe and pose a fire risk.
