Two Jack Russells Die in Portchester Flat Blaze as Three Arrested
The bodies of two Jack Russell terriers were found after a fierce fire tore through a flat in Portchester this morning. The blaze ripped through the upstairs flat at 20 Kenwood Road, also causing heavy damage to the flat below.
Police Make Three Arrests Over Fire
Police swooped quickly, arresting a 43-year-old man, a 44-year-old man, and a 55-year-old woman in connection with the devastating fire. All three remain in custody as investigations continue.
A police spokesperson said, “We were called at 10.42am to reports of a fire at a residential address on Kenwood Road. Officers are working closely with the fire service at the scene.”
Local sources have named the arrested woman as Sue Bailey, the tenant of the burnt flat, who was reportedly due for eviction on Thursday.
Neighbours Rally After Fire Devastates Homes
Neighbours living directly beneath the burnt flat have been overwhelmed by donations after suffering fire damage themselves.
“So upset after what has happened. Me, my partner and kids have lost quite a bit,” said neighbour Zoe Carter.
“Thank you everyone for all your kind regards and donations. We’ve got enough to get us through for now,” she added.
Firefighters Battle Blaze with Six Appliances
Six fire service appliances, including an aerial platform, were deployed to fight the fire. The tenant has been arrested on suspicion of starting the blaze.
