Travellers Set Up Camp Opposite Hilsea Splash Pool
Travellers from Spain have parked up on the field opposite Hilsea Splash Pool, causing a stir for locals. The area is usually the Sunday running route for the Hilsea running group.
Council Takes Legal Action to Evict Campers
Portsmouth City Council has launched a court challenge to force the group to leave the site. Around six caravans were spotted on the land on Saturday, though their exact arrival time is unknown.
Locals Feel Intimidated, Councillor Speaks Out
Hilsea ward councillor Scott Harris revealed the group left behind three bags of rubbish. He said the rubbish was neatly bagged instead of scattered.
“I spoke to a couple of people that saw them leave, they said they went quietly. A lot of people using the splash pool did feel intimidated,”
Harris added.
