Tragic hit-and-run in Portsmouth leaves young woman dead – police hunt witnesses
Just after midnight on Saturday 13 May, a fatal crash rocked Lake Road, Portsmouth. A 20-year-old woman from Fareham was struck by a silver Skoda Octavia taxi. She died at the scene.
Man arrested but now released
A 37-year-old Portsmouth man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has since been released but remains under investigation.
Police launch urgent appeal
Inspector Darren Ord begged witnesses to come forward: “If you saw the pedestrian or the taxi before or during the collision, please get in touch.”
The victim’s family has been informed and are receiving specialist support.
