Pauncefoot Hill Northbound is shut following a shocking crash on the A27 Romsey Bypass.
Rescue Teams Rush to Scene
Two fire crews from Hampshire Fire and Rescue, based in Romsey and Eastleigh, scrambled to the scene just after lunchtime today. A VW van smashed into a tree and ended up off the road, trapping a 54-year-old man inside.
Man Freed and Rushed to Hospital
Firefighters used specialist gear to free the man from the wreckage. While his exact injuries remain unknown, he was conscious and breathing when rescued.
The man was handed over to South Central Ambulance Service and taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.
