Hit-and-Run Shocker

The incident happened at 10.40pm on Saturday, May 1. The three and four-year-old jennies were struck by a silver Ford Mondeo travelling from the Heath roundabout towards Beaulieu. The driver sped off, heading towards the Exbury area, leaving the animals to suffer a tragic fate.

Owners Offer £1,000 Reward for Catching Driver

The heartbroken owners have issued a £1,000 reward for information leading to the prosecution of the reckless driver.

“The donkeys belonged to my 4-year-old nephew and my 16-year-old son,” said Sarah Tangecroft-Napthing from her New Forest home. “My nephew saw the photos and said, ‘Naughty driver, makes me sad to see my donkey dead.’ My son is angry that yet again the driver hasn’t had the decency to come forward.”

“The grey jenny died from internal injuries and the brown jenny suffered three broken legs before dying. It’s heartbreaking.”
